Wedding Ceremony Summary:
The following summary is offered for your review as you prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage. The details of the program will vary based on the type of ceremony you are planning. We have also provided some sample music for for your consideration.
Before we get started, please open the Information Form and fill in the requested information. Please see the submission instructions at the bottom of the page.
Prelude Music: usually organ music while people are being seated, most often selected by the organist.
Introductory Rites:
Processional: usually organ music. Usually one selection for all involved in the procession.

Liturgy of the Word:
Hebrew Scripture (First Reading): Please select a reading from the suggestionsin the Pre-Cana book, and select a reader.
Psalm: most often sung, led by the musicians, refrain sung by the entire assembly. Please select a Psalm text from the suggestions in the Pre-Cana book. The
musicians will select musical setting.
Christian Scripture (Second Reading): Please select a reading from the suggestions
in the Pre-Cana book, and select a reader.
Gospel Acclamation (Alleluia): led by the musicians, sung by the entire assembly.
Gospel Reading: read by the presider. Please select a reading from the suggestions
in the Pre-Cana book.

The Rite of Marriage:
Exchange of Vows
Exchange of Rings
General Intercessions: led by the reader.
Liturgy of the Eucharist: (if your wedding is a mass)
Preparation of the Gifts and Altar: usually accompanied by organ music because
of its brevity.
Eucharistic Prayer: Acclamations sung by the entire assembly, led and selected
by the musicians.
Communion Rite:
The Lord’s Prayer: recited by the assembly.The Nuptial Blessing: usually led by the presider.
Lamb of God Litany: led and selected by the musicians.
Communion Song: sung by the entire assembly. Please select an appropriate song
from Breaking Bread.
