Ordained May 10, 2003, Jim became a Roman Catholic in 1990 through the RCIA program. He has a Master of Divinity and his years of training as a Deacon. He is currently leading the Novena to Our Mother of Perpetual Help every Monday evening at Our Lady of Mercy. He heads the Prayer Chain. He works with St Vincent de Paul Society as a coordinator of Home Visitors.

Along with his wife Dorothy, he does volunteer work at the Samaritan Center each week. Outside of the parish, Deacon Jim serves as a spiritual advisor to the Squires and is Spiritual Advisor to the Third Order Franciscans in Lincroft.. He also serves on the Mayor's Council for Special Needs.

Jim and Dorothy have three children. Two sons are married. They have 4 grandchildren. The Davis Family has lived in Manalapan since 1972. Both have roots in New Jersey.

Jim is in the educational profession with many experiences in teaching, learning consulting and school social work. Jim has taught all levels of education from three year old to Graduate School of Education. He is active in several professional associations. He serves on a Professional Advisory Board for the Learning Disabilities Association of NJ. and has and still does work on many professional conferences throughout the State.

He has written two books: The first is Post High School Programs for Special Needs Adults in NJ and most recently Assistants Sociaux Entrainement Du Manuel and Training Manual for School Social Workers. These publications are for third world countries. Currently they are used in Catholic Schools in Uganda. They are in DR Congo and Camaroon in Africa and most recently, they are in Sri Lanka and India. Jim serves as a consultant to these programs. through online contacts. His most current project is training Substance Abuse workers in NJ.
